At Emerge, we begin each year with a time of prayer and fasting. This is a dedicated season of spiritual awakening and focus as a church family. The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose; it hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives.
What is fasting? Refraining from something for a spiritual purpose.
Ezra 8:21,23 Then I proclaimed a fast … that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer.
OUR FASTING FOCUS:
Mark 9:29 “He answered them, “This type of powerful spirit can only be cast out by fasting and prayer.”
Our fasting focus for 2021 is getting “Spiritually Strong”. If we draw closer to God, our spirit will become stronger enabling us to be overcomers!
· During this time of Prayer and Fasting, we encourage you to pray, read your Bible and journal, write down some things that God has shown you throughout the fast and begin to put practical steps to it. We also encourage you to make it a priority to join us for our Prayer & Worship Nights.
